Claudia Westermann, PhD, is a Senior Associate Professor in Architecture at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and licensed as a practising architect with the German Chamber of Architects. 

Dr Westermann worked in architectural practice for several years before founding her own studio with a focus on trans-disciplinary projects at the threshold of art, technology and architectural design. Her works have been widely exhibited and published. Dr Westermann's engagement in learning and teaching is informed by second-order cybernetics, actualising in inter-disciplinary projects concerned with the ecologies, poetics, and philosophies of art and architectural design. Claudia Westermann has an established track record of excellence in education, guiding students in award-winning projects. She has received teaching awards in both Austria and China, including an Outstanding Design Brief National Award and two Outstanding Design Studio Coursework National Awards for the Final Year Project studio brief Framing Indeterminacy at the 2017 National Architectural Education Annual Symposium in Shenzhen.
