Krisztina Karsai is full professor in criminal law at the University of Szeged and is specialized in European and international criminal law, and criminal policy. In her professional work, she is the author of numerous monographs and scientific publications, a permanent visiting professor at several European universities, and a permanent external expert for the European Commission (DG Justice; Fields of justice, freedom and security; criminal justice, prevent and combat criminality). Her position as independent expert of the Commission allowed her to take a part also in many international evaluation procedures of tenders (since 2013).

Between 2014 and 2018 Prof. Karsai was Vice Rector for Education at the University of Szeged, and is currently Faculty Commissioner of the Faculty of Law and Political responsible for digital education.

Her work in higher legal education has led to a number of innovations and awards. She and her colleagues have founded a series of award-winning textbooks (Hungarian Criminal Law), produced modern practice books (European Criminal Policy), and his project "Ethical Visualisation of Criminal Cases for Law Students" was shortlisted for the 2015 Reimagine Education Award. She has undertaken the introduction of online teaching methodology at the Faculty of Law of the University of Szeged, with online synchronous and asynchronous lectures, e-exams. She has developed several MOOC courses (on Hungarian platforms), and is currently preparing the launch of a MOOC in Coursera for SZTE.
