Dr. YANG Lan (Joy) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the Education University of Hong Kong. She earned her PhD from The University of Hong Kong, and her doctoral dissertation, which centered on a longitudinal intervention aimed at enhancing the academic self-concept and academic achievement of Chinese students, was honored with the "Highly Commended Dissertation Award" by the Global SELF Research Network in 2013. The selection panel for this award was chaired by Prof. Herbert Marsh, a top 1% highly-cited researcher in the Social Sciences and one of the most prolific educational psychologists worldwide.

Joy's recent research endeavours are concentrated on harnessing the potential of formative assessment from a psychological perspective, encompassing a wide range of influential psychological constructs such as self-concept, achievement emotions, and learning engagement, among others. Notably, Dr. Joy has taken the lead in establishing the Psychology and Assessment Special Interest Group (SIG) within the framework of the KRA at the Education University of Hong Kong.
