Dr. Mahfuz is an Associate Professor, who has experience of teaching at different universities in three different countries. He started his career in teaching at Bangladesh Islami University in 2008. Subsequently, he taught at the University of Manchester, UK, East West University, and Eastern University in Bangladesh and since 2017 at the University of Business and Technology in Saudi Arabia. He was the Founding Head of the Department of Law of East West University from 2014 till 2016. He was also the Founding Head of the Department of Law at the University of Business and Technology and continued the position till 2021. He was Vice Dean of the College of Law from 2021 till 2022. Subsequently, he was appointed as College Academic Advisor for one year. At this stage, he holds the responsibility of College Quality Coordinator.

Dr. Mahfuz completed his LLM (2005) and PhD (2013) from the University of Manchester, UK and LLB Honours (2004) from the University of Wolverhampton, UK. He is a Barrister of Law of England and Wales and a member of Lincoln’s Inn. He completed his BVC from Northumbria University, UK in 2006. He was a member of the Society of Legal Scholars, UK and an Academic Member of the Athens Institute for Education and Research since 2014. He was a judge of the QS World Reimagine Education Awards 2022 for Lifelong Learning projects.

Besides his administrative load of developing new Departments of Law and teaching, Dr. Mahfuz published several articles in different leading journals of the subject area. His principal research is in the area of Insurance Law and he published in different volumes of the British Insurance Law Association Journal and in the Insurance Law Journal of Australia. His recent publication is entitled, ‘Gambling on My Life and My Right to Live’. This book chapter was published as part of the project of AIDA Europe.
