Professor Portuguez holds a PhD in Educational Innovation from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. In addition, she has completed a Master's degree in Educational Technology at the same institution. She also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from ULACIT in Costa Rica, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from UNED in Costa Rica. She has also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Costa Rica in her home country.

In relation to her professional experience, she has worked as an educational researcher in the research lines of use and development of technologies in education and education for entrepreneurship at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. She has more than 20 years of experience as a business administrator and consultant. She is also founder and director of a company dedicated to e-learning . In addition, she has teaching experience in universities in Mexico, Colombia and Costa Rica. Currentlym she is Professor of the Graduate Business Academic Department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
