Dr. Andreas Theodoridis is a practitioner-researcher, designer, and educator who works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and environmental technology. With over 25 years of diverse experience, he is committed to bridging the gap between these fields and developing innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life. He holds a PhD in Advanced Building Systems from CASE (Center for Architecture Science and Ecology), a research center of RPI based in NYC, and an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Systems from Pratt Institute. 

 

Dr. Theodoridis is currently focused on developing innovative hybrid phytoremediative modular ceramic systems that target air pollution in building envelopes. He is driven by a strong commitment to addressing environmental inequalities and ensuring equitable access to a clean air future for everyone. To achieve this goal, he collaborates with institutions such as Yale CEA and the Center of Mediterranean Architecture through his design practice, United Atmospheres, and research initiatives.

 

His work has been exhibited and published in several architectural exhibitions and forums, including the ASHRAE Journal, OFFRAMP Journal of SCI-Arc, the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Design Hub of Barcelona, the Oslo Architecture Triennale, the Istanbul Design Biennale, the Museum on the Seam in Israel, Princeton University, and the NYCx Design week among other venues.

 

Apart from his design research work, Dr. Theodoridis is passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with future generations. He has taught at institutions such as Syracuse University and Columbia GSAPP. Dr. Theodoridis has also lectured at the Syracuse Center for Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems and was a visiting researcher at the Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design. He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Humanities Graduate Fellowship at RPI, an Honorable Mention at the Architect's Newspaper Design Awards, and the One Prize annual Design and Science award. 

 

He is currently an Assistant Professor at NYIT, where he is looking forward to furthering his research and professional endeavors while cultivating the next generation of design professionals who are equipped to tackle environmental challenges and create a more sustainable, equitable future.
