Dr. Andrew Amenaghawon is a
focused and dedicated Academic, Researcher and Consultant who has gained ample
experience working in several capacities with numerous National and
International agencies. With specialized training in Chemical Engineering, he
has an in-depth proficiency and competency in Academics, Research, and
Consulting. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of
Chemical Engineering at the University of Benin where he engages in teaching,
research and consulting. He regularly provides consulting services such as
process systems consulting, educational and academic consulting, and human
capacity development through software and soft skills training
facilitation.
Dr. Andrew is an illustrious
figure in the field of chemical engineering. His journey exemplifies dedication
and ground-breaking contributions. With a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from
the University of Benin, a Distinction in Process Systems Engineering from
Imperial College London, and a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Chemical
Engineering from the University of Benin, Dr. Andrew's impressive academic
achievements formed a solid foundation for his extraordinary career. He is the
Principal Investigator at the Bioresources Valorization Laboratory (BVL) at the
University of Benin where his research focuses on providing knowledge on the
recovery of valuable products from waste biomass materials by exploring the
scientific and engineering aspect of the technologies for converting them into
fuels, materials and specialty chemicals. The impact of his research is
reflected in the more than 160 publications including journal articles, book
chapters, and a full book, as well as multi-million naira grants he has been
awarded. His work has garnered almost 1800 citations, illustrating his global influence
that extends beyond academic circles.
As part of his community
service, he founded the Tenadre Mentees (TM) mentorship program whose mission
is to provide mentorship and career coaching to college students and young
professionals as well as dedicated graduate school mentorship. He is currently
the Director of the Central Research Laboratory at the University of Benin
where he drives and oversees various research initiatives.
