I am a Professor and Head of School at the
University of Canterbury, where I lead the School of Mathematics and
Statistics and serve on the Faculty of Engineering Leadership Team.
With over 15 years experience in academia, I am deeply invested in
advancing the mathematical sciences and nourishing the university
ecosystem for amplifying student success and research excellence and
impact.
I am passionate about educating people in the
mathematical sciences, and creating a technically literate society able
to address the needs of communities, fostering advances in science,
technology and the social sciences; it also underpins informed
citizenship, enhanced employment opportunities, and wellbeing. I am
deeply invested in championing diversity and inclusivity in the
mathematical sciences and creating equitable pathways for students into
professional and academically rich programmes, thus contributing
essentially to society. I champion community engagement and
mathematical outreach to expand and amplify a broad-based,
mathematically literate and loving community.
