Dr. Ionell Jay R. Terogo, LPT is a current Fulbright
Ph.D. international scholar to the U.S. at the Ohio State University (Columbus,
Ohio), taking up a degree in Education Studies with a specialization in Higher
Education and Student Affairs. He is the Director of the Office of Curriculum
and Instruction at the University of San Jose – Recoletos, a private Catholic
institution in Cebu, Philippines. In his work as in charge of curriculum and
instruction, he assisted in several teacher improvement sessions on curriculum
design and integration, outcomes assessment, and online flexible learning. He
champions continuing professional development, educational data research, cultural
exchange programs, and holistic development – creating programs and initiatives
to support faculty, administrators, and pre-service teachers. This advocacy
persists in his work as a lecturer at MET Review Center, handling Professional
Education, Social Sciences, and English subjects. His interest in teaching and
learning had developed immensely since his college years with a degree in
Secondary Education – English (Summa Cum Laude) and graduate studies in English
as a Second Language (UP Cebu) and English with a concentration in Language
(USJ-R). He is recognized as a Most Outstanding Teacher in his teaching stints
in both high school (2011-2016) and college (2015-present) and has been awarded
as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert for the Philippines since 2018 and as
the Best Implementor of a Synchronous Teaching Model by the Commission on
Higher Education (CHED-7) in 2020. He had been entrusted with grants related to
global citizenship education and social justice, with one grant being a mentee
of UNESCO Peace Laureate, Professor Toh Swee Hin. Currently, he is working as a
research collaborator on projects associated with higher education diversity
and inclusion, post-colonialist and critical perspectives in education, international
student development, and pre-service teacher development at OSU College of
Education and Human Ecology.
