Jonna Karla C. Bien, PhD, RN, is currently working at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines as the Director of the Office of International Affairs and concurrently an Associate Professor of the College of Social  Sciences and Development, Department of Psychology – Graduate School and Undergraduate Programs.

She has been recently granted a Scholar-in-Residence Program award by Fulbright and will be hosted by the Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland, USA in August 2024.

She graduated Doctor of Philosophy major in Educational Psychology from La Consolacion University Philippines. She has earned Master in Psychology, major in Clinical Psychology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and completed Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Perpetual Help College of Manila. She is a Registered Nurse.

She served as a Visiting Scholar in INTI International University, Malaysia (October-November 2022).

She participated in the International Faculty Development Programme in Chandigarh University, India (July 2022) and is an International Visiting Faculty of the said University.

She is a UPG Sustainability Leader 2022 and attended the immersive training of the United People’s Global Sustainability Leadership Program as a representative of the Asia Pacific region held at the Hurricane Island on June 2023.

She is a certified Six Sigma Green and Yellow Belt holder and a Mental Health First Aid Responder. She is a certified United People’s Global Sustainability Leader.

She has participated in seminars / webinars as resource speaker and research presenter in both national and international events.
