Dr. Kabaly P Subramanian currently serves as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and is a member of the senior leadership team at the Arab Open University, Oman, which is a global institution with campuses in nine countries serving over 40,000 students. Dr. Kabaly has earned a PhD in Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute FCMI (UK), as well as an International Research Fellow at the University of Selangor, Malaysia. He holds the title of Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, US) and is a Certified Management and Business Educator CMBE (UK) through the Chartered Association of Business Schools (UK). Additionally, he is an Accredited Management Educator recognized by the University Grants Commission of India.

Dr. Kabaly is affiliated with several professional organizations including the British Academy of Management (UK), IEEE as a Senior member, the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) as a Lifetime member, Project Management International (PMI), and is a Strategic partner of the Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre (Malaysia). With over 24 years in academia, Dr. Kabaly advocates for a balanced approach encompassing research, teaching and learning, industry engagement, and community service.

In the realm of professorship, Dr. Kabaly holds Visiting and Adjunct Professor positions at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) India, Chandigarh University, India, and Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, India.

In the field of Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Dr. Kabaly possesses extensive experience with the Quality Assurance Systems of higher education institutions. He has worked with the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority and Quality Assurance Agency (OAAA&QA) on Institutional Accreditation, Qualifications Framework Systems, and Program Accreditation. His expertise extends to global accreditation systems, including the Quality Assurance Agency (UK) for Institutional Accreditation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Oman Association of Quality in Higher Education, the sole national body of its kind in Oman.

Research

His Research and Teaching interests lies at the intersection of Business Strategy, Business Innovation, Startups, Startup Ecosystems and Digital Transformation of Businesses. Dr. Kabaly has published in indexed journals and conferences. He is presently leading a team of researchers in investigating phenomenon’s including Value as a Strategy, Digital Transformation of Higher Education Institutions, Blockchain in Business, IoT in Education. These research projects are funded by MoHERI Oman and other external Industry funding partners. Dr. Kabaly is on the Editorial board of several academic research journals. He has attended and presented his research in several International Conferences and Journals (Scopus and Web of Science indexed) in countries which includes US, UK, Germany, Poland, India, Oman, UAE, Kuwait, Georgia, and Malaysia and won best research paper award.

Industry and Community Engagement

Dr. Kabaly P Subramanian has trained more than 1000 Business leaders, Entrepreneurs and Executives in Strategy, Innovation and Digital Transformation across the world. He conducts Strategy workshops and coaching sessions for Startup founders and founding teams. Dr Kabaly P Subramanian has consulted large, medium, and small enterprises on Strategy, Innovation and Digital Transformation initiatives. Presently Dr. Kabaly is consulting a large corporate in Oman on their Digital Transformation Strategy and being a Strategy Coach to a senior management team of a corporate group in Oman. Dr. Kabaly is involved in social initiatives which includes supporting educational Institutions and startups ecosystem enabling.

Teaching

Dr Kabaly P Subramanian is a well-respected teacher in Business Strategy, Business Innovation, Digital Businesses and Entrepreneurship related courses and modules at both Undergraduate (BBA) and Postgraduate (MBA) levels. He receives good feedback from his students as an “inspiring” teacher.

Continuous Learning

Dr Kabaly believes and invests in continuous learning and Development. Recently Dr. Kabaly graduated from Columbia Business School, US and MIT, US in their jointly offered PG program in Digital Business through Emeritus Institute of Management, Singapore and program in Public Policy and Digital Transformation from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India. He has attended number of Faculty Development Programs (FDP) and Management Development Programs (MDP) in reputed institutions which includes IIM-K, IIM-B, TAPMI, ISB (India), UCSI (Malaysia) and, Oxford University (UK).

Awards

He has received number of awards including Best Employee award from Ministry of Manpower, Sultanate of Oman, Best Professor in Management Studies as a part of “Oman Innovation Leadership Awards 2021, Recognized by Arab Open University Presidentship for “Dedication and outstanding role played” in accomplishing Open University, UK validation in 2021.

Prior Experience

Prior to Arab Open University, Dr. Kabaly P Subramanian worked as Head of Academic Section in Al Musanna College of Technology (Presently University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Musanna) Sultanate of Oman. Also he worked with University of Madras affiliated National Institute of Human Resource Development as a member of faculty, in India.
