Prof. Sarkar is a Graduate of Electrical Engineering, a Post Graduate in Information Science, and Phd. in Management Science. His foray into Higher Education was with NSHM from October 2002 as its Head of Academics. Ever since he has been deeply involved in furthering the vision and mission of NSHM brand, signifying Notabilis Sociatrix, Humanus Maxime meaning, noteworthy collaboration for the best development of humankind. He has the proud privilege of having witnessed thousands of NSHM students graduate under his watch on one side and on the other has continuously contributed to the design and development of new academic programs, projects, and institutional development initiatives like UK-India Educational Research Initiative, Choice Based Credit System, NEP, etc. Before NSHM, he was with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. Where he served in informatics as a Scientist. He worked in process automation area of steel plants and thereafter has been active with social development, both on and off the field. He was accorded the rare honour as ‘Master Educator’ by Dr. Edward de Bono of Lateral Thinking fame. Had received the Outstanding College Award from the then Ministry of HRD, Government of India, for Digital Financial Literacy Campaign in India Project, and the Director excellence award of EduSkills-AICTE. His input on the experience of work in India was sought by the EIU on behalf of The Economist, UK. Among his recent contributions were two policy briefs for G20 Summit 2023.
