Dr. Ly Quyet Tien is Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Director of the Foreign Language Center at the University of Thu Dau Mot, where he has worked since obtaining his Ph.D. in Asian Studies and Social Sciences from the University of Paris Diderot in 2007. He leads a teaching staff of 80 teachers who teach English to 12,000 students.  His responsibility is challenging: improving teacher capacity, upgrading student competence and transforming a local college department into the Faculty of Foreign Languages whose mission is to offer the students from its province and the surrounding area an opportunity to become qualified for their future careers, and to answer the needs of local economic development. Throughout his career, Dr. Tien has always worked in both business and education as Assistant Director, Interpreter, Consultant, Dean, and Development Manager. As Development Manager, he was In charge of International Relations, working with foreign partners for Company 508. He speaks French and Russian as well as English. He feels the AIF program will allow him to meet experts and colleagues from all over the world, study, exchange ideas and share the experience of leadership, as well as research new concepts of leadership. This will help him to become a good lecturer in leadership as well as a better dean and director for the benefit of the teachers and students of the University of Thu Dau Mot (2014 Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy International Fellows, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Washington).
