Dr. Mahfuz is an Associate Professor with a distinguished academic career within multiple countries and prestigious institutions. With a comprehensive educational background including a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, an LLM from the same institution, and an LLB Honors from the University of Wolverhampton, UK, he has established himself as a leading authority in law.
His professional journey encompasses teaching roles at renowned universities in the UK, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. Notably, he served as the Founding Head of the Department of Law both East West University and the University of Business and Technology. Dr. Mahfuz’s leadership extended to the role of Vice Dean at the College of Law at UBT.
His expertise extends beyond academic, as evidenced by his qualification as a Barrister of Law of England and Wales and membership in Lincoln’s Inn. He contributed significantly to legal scholarship, publishing numerous articles in leading journals in the UK and Australia. His primary research focus lies in Insurance Law, with notable publications such as the book chapter titled, ‘Gambling on My Life and My Right to Live’. Furthermore, Dr. Mahfuz’s commitment to academic excellence is highlighted by his involvement as a judge for the QS World Reimagine Education Awards and his role as a reviewer for the Athens Journal of Law. He has also spearheaded collaborative initiatives like the UBT & Sorbonne Summer Program, showcasing his dedication to enhancing educational experiences.
