María T. Nicolás holds a PhD in Communication and a Master's in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Navarra, Spain. She also holds a law degree from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico. During her doctoral studies, she received the Reina Sofía Scholarship from Spain and the Government of Navarra Scholarship for her academic excellence. Additionally, she has completed professional training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), IESE Business School (Spain), and the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE) in Mexico.
Since 2009, Dr. Nicolás Gavilán has been a distinguished member of Universidad Panamericana (Campus Mexico), serving as Director of Graduate Programs and Director of the School of Communication. She has also been the Academic and Educational Innovation Vice-Rector at the Mexico Campus and is currently the Director of the Institutional Center for Educational Innovation (CIIE) under the General Rector's Office. She has been a member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNI) since 2011, currently holding Level 2.
Dr. Nicolás Gavilán has undertaken research and teaching residencies at prestigious institutions, including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), Villanova University (USA), the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan (Italy), and the Higher School of Social and Media Culture (Poland). Since 2015, she has served on the executive team of the Ethics of Society and Media Group within the International Association of Media Communication Research (IAMCR), coordinating numerous workshops, preconferences, and postconferences. She is also a member of the International Communication Association (ICA) and a full member of the Mexican Academy of Communication.
Her latest book, "Emotional Analysis in Multiplatform Serialized Fiction," highlights her academic contributions. She has published extensively in scientific journals indexed in Scopus, including the Mediterranean Journal of Communication, Media Watch, Professional Information, Communication Journal, and Journal of Business Ethics Education. Her research interests focus on international journalism, the representation of values and anti-values in audiovisual fiction, the portrayal of women in fiction, and educational innovation.
With her extensive background in communication, law, and education, coupled with her significant contributions to research and her active role in various international academic associations, Dr. Nicolás Gavilán is highly qualified to judge and contribute to matters of educational innovation.
