Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Vice-Chancellor as a member of the University Leadership Group. I provide strategic and operational leadership for the University’s domestic and international marketing, communications, student recruitment and development activity with responsibility for a multi million pound budget and a team of more than 200 staff in the Marketing & Advancement Directorate:

Marketing; Global Engagement (UK-based and offshore team); Corporate Communications; Alumni Relations; Philanthropy; Brand, Creative & Print Services (including Web and Digital); Student Recruitment & Admissions (including Widening Participation) and Loughborough University Arts.

Prior to joining Loughborough, Martyn has held a number of senior recruitment and marketing roles across different organisations within the HE sector including the British Council, University of Nottingham and IDP Education. More recently he was Interim Director of Marketing, Recruitment and International at Swansea University.

 

Martyn is a graduate of Cardiff University with a bachelor degree in English and a Masters in Strategic Marketing, he holds a postgraduate qualification from the University of Manchester and has undertaken CPD leadership programmes from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

He is a former Vice-Chair of the British Universities International Liaison Association (BUILA) and of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Higher Education Special Interest Group.  Martyn is a former member of the IDP Connect International Advisory Panel and currently sits on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Global Advisory Committee, Keystone Education Group International Advisory Board, Duolingo English Test UK Advisory Group and the Council for Europe of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
