Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Muhammad Makky currently serves as the Director of Partnership and Innovation at Universitas Andalas, Indonesia, where he also holds the position as Expert in Working Group of National Food Agency of the Republic of Indonesia. He is the Expert Team for Food Security Working Group of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Born on October 1, 1979, Dr. Makky has built a distinguished career in Agricultural Engineering, contributing significantly to both academia and industry. He earned his Doctorate in Agricultural Systems and Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.


Dr. Makky has a robust international profile, having conducted post-doctoral research under the Erasmus Mundus Project in Greece, and as visiting scholar in University of Groningen (the Netherland), Gifu University and Kobe University (Japan), GrePalma (Guatemala), Malaysian Oil Palm Board and UiTM (Malaysia), Chinese Academic of Agricultural Sciences (PRC China), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and is actively involved in various scientific communities. He is a Fellow of the ASEAN-US Science & Technology program, President of the Afro Eurasian Science and Technology Network, and holds multiple key roles related to food security and agricultural technology in Indonesia. His extensive research focuses on sustainable agriculture, oil palm maturity products, and the technological advancement of agricultural machinery, underlined by numerous publications and patents.


Muhammad Makky has established a robust international network and has engaged in numerous partnerships that amplify his research impact and educational outreach. Dr. Makky has participated in numerous international workshops and training programs, sharing his expertise and learning from global best practices. These activities not only enhance his own research but also contribute to building capacity within his home institution and beyond.


Dr. Makky’s research is characterized by a strong emphasis on practical applications and innovations that cater to the needs of both local and international agricultural sectors. His work contributes significantly to advancing agricultural technology and promoting sustainable practices in Indonesia and around the world.
