I serve as an ambassador for Graduate employment internally and externally to UCT, championing the employment agenda of UCT students, graduates and Employers nationally and internationally.
I also oversee the work of a distinct groups tasked with ensuring the delivery of bespoke services relevant to Graduate recruitment and co-curricular activities. The spectrum of services responds to the rapidly changing World of Work, Employability and Career-readiness. These services are provided to facilitate student success and Career readiness for work in any formal employment sector including private, public and non-profit sectors.
My purpose and values has always been to support youth employment in our country and connect them with opportunities whether it’s related to bursary/scholarship or employment opportunities.
As the Head of Graduate Development & Employability at the University of Cape Town, Ms Nawaal Boolay leads with innovation and strategic vision. With over 2 decades of experience in Higher Education. Nawaal is dedicated to enhancing student and graduate employability. Her leadership has fostered partnerships with diverse employers, ensuring students access to a wide range of career opportunities.
Nawaal drives innovative programs that integrate career readiness into the curriculum. These initiatives equip students with practical skills and professional growth opportunities. Her team’s excellence has been recognized as Best Careers Service for the past 13 years, reflecting their impactful work.
Through continuous engagement with industry trends, conferences, and research, Nawaal ensures UCT remains a leading provider of career services. Her commitment to innovation and leadership helps graduates transition seamlessly from education to the world of work.
