Prof Dr. Nazia Abdul Majid completed her PhD in the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (2009) in the field of Genetics and Molecular Biology. Upon returning with her PhD, Nazia began to serve at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics Division. As an academic, her research revolves around the use of RNA interference, Cancer Genetics, Natural Products and -OMICS technologies in elucidating the role of telomerase in cancer. As a UM academic administrator, she was the Deputy Director of the Global Planning & Strategy Centre who plays a strategic role in the continuous monitoring and evaluation process of University Malaya (UM)’s performance in the global rankings. Currently, she is appointed as the Director of Corporate Data Office, where in this role, she is involved in ensuring UM remains a top university by managing ranking data and ensuring effective communication with the Ministry of Higher Education. Her office also works hard to apply knowledge and skills on data analytics to inform a significant evidence-based decisions towards tackling not only the current challenges but also ensuring future preparedness.
