Osman Hasan received his BEng (Hons) degree from the UET, Peshawar Pakistan in 1997, and the MEng and PhD degrees from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 2001 and 2008, respectively. Having obtained his Postdoc from Concordia University, Canada, Prof. Hasan joined the NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS) in 2009. Prior to his current appointment of Pro-Rector (Academics) at NUST, Dr Hasan has rendered invaluable services to NUST as Principal & Dean SEECS, besides previously serving as Head of Department of  Electrical Engineering at SEECS.

Prof. Hasan has a proven track record vis-a-vis teaching and research, industry outreach and commercialisation, and internationalisation. A proud recipient of HEC’s “Best Teacher Award” in 2011 and the NUST “President’s Gold Medal for the Best Teacher” in 2015, Dr Hasan’s unique teaching methods and style have earned him prestige and honour from the academic circles within the country and abroad. Prof. Hasan’s research findings have been published in 6 books, 15 book chapters, about 100 journal papers, and over 150 conference papers at reputable venues. He has been awarded the HECs “Best Young Researcher Award” in 2012, and the HEC’s Best Researcher award in 2020. Prof. Hasan has made key contributions in internationalization, including winning 2 major Erasmus Mundus mobility grants and collaborating with various institutes of America, Europe and Asia. His services towards higher education and research have also been acknowledged at the national level by the President of Pakistan as he has been the proud recipient of the prestigious Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Medal of Distinction) in 2022. He is also serving as the Chairperson of NUST Institute of Policy Studies (NIPS) – A university based Think Tank.
