With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in English Teaching Techniques, Professor Paulo Sergio Santos Negrete seamlessly blends business acumen with a profound understanding of pedagogy.
As a discerning judge of innovative educational projects for QS Quacquarelli Symonds (Reimagine Education), he has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of education from 2021 to 2024. His commitment to fostering creativity and innovation has established him as a prominent figure in the global educational landscape.
He was a finalist for the prestigious ‘Science of Learning Award 2023’ by QS Reimagine Education. This recognition underscores his dedication to pushing the boundaries of educational methodologies.
As a distinguished developer of the Accelerated Teaching Method known as 'Neuropedia | The Deblocking Method', he was awarded the 'Best Brazilian Entrepreneur Award in Europe' by UK Magazine High Profile in 2022. This recognition is not an isolated incident; he was also crowned 'Personality of the Year' at the Prêmio Quality in Brazil in 2020.
In 1999, Paulo Sergio Santos Negrete received his initial training in Suggestopedia™ and Desuggestopedia. In 2000, he completed his final training in Vienna at the International Center for Desuggestology and in Tokyo with Dr. Georgi Lozanov, Ph.D., M.D.
Since Suggestopedia was presented at UNESCO in 1978, many adaptations have been necessary to address the criticisms outlined in the final report issued by UNESCO. Despite these criticisms and observations, the method was still considered superior to any other existing approaches.
Dr. Lozanov consistently emphasized during Negrete’s training that Suggestopedia is a science; as such, new developments should be expected, requiring the involvement of scientists for its advancement.
Between 2000 and 2014, Negrete authored several books on the method and developed a new approach called 'Neuropedia – The Deblocking Method' and 'Accelerated Language Acquisition (ALA)' for teachers, educators, and researchers.
He taught English using both method variants – Suggestopedia and Desuggestopedia – until 2011 when he finally gathered sufficient scientific results. Neuropedia | The Deblocking Method addresses the criticisms and observations made by UNESCO in 1978 and incorporates discoveries in neuroscience from the last few decades.
Neuropedia | The Deblocking Method is applicable across all fields of education, especially in language learning.
Negrete founded his own business in Brazil, which was in operation until the beginning of 2019.
In 2019 he moved with his family to Portugal, his grandfather’s land in Portugal, under his residency visa. He opened another language academy, Chapman Inglês Acelerado, and has pursued his passion for teaching and training teachers in the method. In both Portugal and Brazil, he is known as Teacher John Chapman, the alias he has used as a professor.
In November 2020, he received the Quality Award in São Paulo, Brazil, for his efforts in developing a new learning system.
From 2021 to 2024, he was selected as one of the first-round judges for the international education award, ‘Reimagine Education.’
From 2021 to 2023, Portuguese newspapers published articles about him and his work.
In 2022, he was awarded the title of BEST BRAZILIAN ENTREPRENEUR IN EUROPE by High Profile Magazine in the UK. The award ceremony took place inside the Eiffel Tower and was presented by the businesswoman and philanthropist Queen Diambi of Kongo.
In June 2023, he was invited to become the education columnist for 'Jornal Olhar Brasileiro em Portugal', a fortnightly supplement of Diário do Minho, one of the largest newspapers in the northern region of Portugal.
In November 2024, he will launch an online video course called "Super Brain" that will teach innovative techniques to maximize studying and reading by up to 300%.
