Dr. Philipp Reichert is scholar-practitioner in international education with many years international experience spanning the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, and the USA, he has developed deep expertise in the intersection of government policies, institutional strategies, and the complexities faced by international students during their academic and professional journeys. Philipp holds an honours Master’s degree in International Relations from Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands and a doctorate from the University of Calgary and also holds an RCIC designation in Canadian immigration law. His academic research focuses on internationalization in higher education, and regularly contributes to the IE field through various presentations, workshops, and consultations as a subject matter expert on immigration law and policy.

Currently, he serves in a dual campus role across both UBC campuses in Vancouver and Okanagan. As the Director of the Global Engagement Office (GEO) at UBC Okanagan, he leads an award-winning team overseeing International Student Advising, Go Global (exchange and partnerships), and International & Intercultural Programming. Additionally, he is the Director pro tem of International Student Development at UBC's Vancouver campus, where he supports a diverse community of over 17,000 international students. Beyond his role at UBC, Philipp is a Senior Advisor for Learning and Development at the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and recently completed his tenure as Co-Chair of the CBIE National Immigration Advisory Committee. His commitment to enhancing the international education landscape is further demonstrated through his advisory roles on various boards, including Wayble (formerly Isempower), a career development ecosystem for international students, and the Indo Canada Education Council (ICEC). He is also an active member of the Board of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) and participates in the Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership Committee, advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion, particularly for newcomers to the Okanagan Valley.

Philipp's dedication to the international education field has been recognized with various awards including the CBIE North Star Award for Emerging Leader in International Education in 2016, the UBC Award of Excellence for Global Citizenship in 2020, and the Harold Josephson Award from AIEA in 2021 related to his doctoral work and research, and in 2022/23 he was selected to be an AIEA Presidential Fellow. In 2024, the "Global Pathways" initiative at UBC Okanagan, stemming from his doctoral work, received the BCCIE Outstanding Program in International Education Award.
