Dr. Prashant R. Nair is working as Head & Vice-Chairman, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Deemed-to-be-University), Coimbatore, India. He has over twenty four years of teaching, research, mentoring, training, consultancy and academic administration experience in computer science & engineering department. Has taught in academic programs in the USA and Europe at University of California, San Diego; Sofia University, Bulgaria and University of Trento, Italy as an Erasmus fellow. Has written 6 books, 2 edited books, 1 book chapter and over 50 publications in reputed journals, books and conferences. He serves on the editorial board of 10+ journals, newsletters, and magazines and is also active as a science writer & columnist. He has mentored student teams which have won or secured top ranks in 30 premier international and national competitions like Smart India Hackathon, Rajasthan Hackathon, TCS Digital Twin challenge, IEEE R10 humanitarian technology challenge, and represented India as part of the national hackathon team for Singapore-India Hackathon and felicitated by honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. He has also been ranked as top innovation mentor in India by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) for 4 consecutive years and also coordinates AIM activities at Tamil Nadu as regional mentor of change on a voluntary basis. He has also been recognised as top performing innovation ambassador by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) for innovation outreach twice. He is holding or has held global, national and regional leadership positions in professional bodies such as IEEE, ACM, IETE, ISCA, CMA, and CSI such as Chair of IEEE.tv advisory committee, CSI National Student Coordinator, ACM Eminent Speaker, and Chair-Publications of IEEE Madras Section. He has the distinction of organising the top student events in India of 4 professional bodies namely IEEE, ACM, CSI and IETE. He has been serving as the Chairman/Vice-Chairman/Coordinator of Amrita Deemed University's  Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) since 2009. He has coordinated 3 cycles of NAAC accreditation, 2 cycles of NBA Accreditation, NIRF rankings, Swachh campus rankings and also served as UGC nodal officer for university with achievements such as A++ grade by NAAC, top private university in India in both national and international university rankings. He has served as vice-chairman of the department of computer science & engineering, one of the largest departments of the Amrita university for 12 years. He also serves as co-curricular advisor and Techfest Convener for Amrita University since 2010. A very sought after speaker, by conservative estimates has addressed 150,000 students and trained 15,000+ faculty on technology, innovation, professional bodies and quality aspects of higher education not only in India, USA, Thailand, Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nepal, Bhutan etc. Awards & recognitions won include multiple CSI best faculty and academic excellence awards, IEEE Education Society global chapter achievement award, IETE fellowship, Fulbright program reviewer, etc.
