Serit Banyan is a Lecturer and MPU Coordinator within the Teaching and Learning Unit at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak since 2023. He boasts extensive experience as an MPU lecturer, having been actively involved in teaching MPU modules since 2011. He earned a Master of Science in Human Communication from the University Putra of Malaysia. Furthermore, he honed his teaching skills through a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning obtained from Taylor’s University in Malaysia. His area of expertise lies in online learning and the integration of technology in education.
Recognized for his exceptional contributions to education, Serit Banyan has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. Notable honors include the IIDEL 2017, IUCEL 2018, 2019, and 2021 awards, as well as the RAHoLE and APRS 2017 awards. He has been a recipient of the EMAS award and was shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious QS-Wharton Reimagine Education Award in 2018. Additionally, he has received the PICTL and Taylor’s EMAS awards in 2017 and 2020, along with the Taylor’s Distinguished e-Learning Educator Award. Serit Banyan’s contributions to education have been acknowledged with the Taylor’s University President’s Award. His commitment to academic excellence extends to his recognition as a finalist for the National Academic Award 14th Edition.
In 2022, Serit Banyan achieved a significant milestone when he was bestowed with the honorary title of Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A. B. S.) by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak. This prestigious recognition was in acknowledgment of his substantial contributions to national education and charitable endeavors. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Serit Banyan has been appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education to serve as a national committee member for various vital committees, including Service-Learning Malaysia (SULAM), Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU), and Bahasa Iban. His multifaceted involvement in educational and academic affairs underscores his commitment to the advancement of education in Malaysia.
