Dr. Syaamantak Das currently works as an Assistant Professor in the interdisciplinary program (IDP) in Educational Technology at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (ET@IITB) in Mumbai, India. Dr. Das earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Information Analysis of Educational Texts from the Centre for Educational Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he completed his Masters in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur and the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research in Kolkata.


After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Das worked as a Data and Policy Summer Scholar at the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago, focusing on Education Policy by analyzing the impact of the “safe passage program” in Chicago city schools. Prior to this, he held positions at Piramal and WorldQuant.


Dr. Das is a member of several professional organizations, including ACM SIGCHI and SIGCSE. His current research interests revolve around Cognitively Informed Artificial Intelligence in Education, with a specific focus on Generative AI within domains such as Metaverse-based smart textbooks and AI-assisted software programming.
