
Prof. Mohamed Essam Khedr is a distinguished academic and
senior IEEE member with a profound impact on higher education and the field of
mobile and wireless communications. He currently serves as the Dean of
Admission and Registration at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology &
Maritime Transport (AAST), where he plays a pivotal role in shaping educational
policies, strategic planning, and institutional development.
Prof. Khedr holds a BSc and MSc in Engineering from AAST and earned his PhD in Engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada. With decades of experience in academia and administration, he has held several leadership positions including Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Student Affairs, and Manager of African and Asian Studies. His commitment to excellence in education is reflected in his extensive teaching portfolio, which includes courses in mobile and wireless communications, artificial intelligence in communication networks, neural networks, data management, big data, and statistical communications.
Renowned for his work in AI integration in higher education, Prof. Khedr has led numerous research projects, consultations, and curriculum development initiatives. He is also actively involved in international collaboration, including the development of proposals under Erasmus+ programs focused on capacity building in the AI era.
A member of the Board of Faculty Affairs and Educational Affairs at AAST, Prof. Khedr is also the lead coordinator of a regional initiative in partnership with the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) to explore the role of AI in higher education governance and policy.
In addition to his academic work, Prof. Khedr mentors student innovation teams. His work bridges the gap between theoretical innovation and practical impact, demonstrating his commitment to student empowerment and digital transformation in education.
