Dr. Nahla Gomaa is Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta, AB, Canada; an imminent academic leader and a research innovator with ground-breaking work in different domains of medical education. Being specifically intrigued by Quality Improvement of medical education, she is senior author of a collaborative nation-wide document analysis on quality assurance in Canadian Higher Education.
She has been on the international Team-Based Learning Collaborative [TBLC] serving 3 committees including: Research & Scholarship, Education, and Annual conference committees. Most recently, she presented a team study on “Student perceptions of Using a Chatbot in Team Based Learning’, at the International Association of Medical Science Education [IAMSE] annual meeting 2025.
In addition, she is a fellow of Academy of Medical Educators [FAcadMEd], and a Senior Fellow in Advanced Higher Education (SFHEA), U.K., certified in Higher Education Teaching from Harvard University, and in Patient’s safety Quality Management [PSQM] in health care from the University of Calgary, Canada. She has recently been invited to “has recently been invited to “Sigma Xi- distinguished lectureship program” 2026.
Being a grant adjudicator for Provincial, National and International granting organizations, and a Guest Editor with high impact medical education Journals has emphasized her interest in leveraging the quality of medical education, curtailing the challenges faced by both educators and learners and upscaling the quality of related research consortium.
