Dr. Faizul is a Professional Engineer (PEng) recognized by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, and holds the designation of ASEAN Chartered Engineer (ACPE). He has held various administrative and leadership roles in academia, including serving as the head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaya. Dr. Faizul's contributions extend to international conferences, where he has taken on roles such as conference secretary, treasurer, and advisory committee member. He served as the President of the Malaysia Thermoelectric Society (MTES) and Vice President (Research) in the past. With research interests in thermoelectric materials, lead-free solder alloys, and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), Dr. Faizul has authored over 200 scientific articles, holds multiple patents, and has supervised more than 30 postgraduate students. He is actively engaged as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and has examined doctoral theses. In 2023, he assumed the position of Adjunct Professor at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, India.
