Sri Nixon Joseph is CEO of Children's LoveCastles Trust(CLT India), Bengaluru, India. CLT India, an NPO in the education sector, started in 1997 and so far implemented the digital stem education program in more than 4800 schools all across India benefitting more than 2.7 million students from marginalised families. He is a regular speaker in various CSR & Sustainability forums. He is a social auditor and also Guest faculty of IICSR, Goa.
Nixon Joseph, CEO, CLT India (Childrens Lovecastles Trust), Bengaluru, former President & Chief Operating Officer, SBI Foundation, is a post-graduate in English Language and Literature, joined State Bank of India in 1985 as probationary officer. As a career Banker, he has extensive experience in various facets of Banking like Corporate Credit, Retail Operations, International Banking etc., has worked all across India. He was also Manager(Operations), SBI Bahrain, Vice President (Syndications & Investments), SBI Tokyo (2008-2011) and Chief Executive Officer, SBI Tokyo branch(2011-2012). He is a Certified Credit Professional, Certified Banking Compliance Professional and Certified Information Systems Banker. He was instrumental in bringing out the Carbon Credit Policy and Green Banking policy of State Bank of India, India’s largest Bank. Retired from SBI as President & COO, SBI Foundation in May 2021
He joined SBI Foundation in 2016 and during his stint as Coordinator, SBI Youth for India fellowship program, he was instrumental in inspiring and mentoring 100 youths every year, and had taken the fellowship to a higher level. He has been mentoring many social entrepreneur units started by SBI Youth for India fellows. Has done the ‘Social intrapreneurship” course of Ashoka Changemakers with distinction, the Social Impact Auditor exam and Sustainability & Climate Finance course.
As President of SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of State Bank of India he was supporting strong impact and sustainable projects to help the underprivileged and needy and lend support to achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. He has been driving the Centre of Excellence for persons with disabilities implementing projects for a diversified and inclusive society. A regular speaker in various CSR & Sustainability forums all across India, during the lockdown period (2020-21) he has participated in more than 275 webinars as chief guest/guest of honour /panelist speaker.
As CEO of CLT India,(since Sep 2021) he is driving the digital Stem education initiatives which has already been implemented in 4700 schools all across India and benefited 2.6 million students. CLT India is an NGO in the edtech sector established in 1997 and won the BRICS Award 2021 for promoting SDG 4 with low cost technology. Recently CLT India has been awarded the International Maths prize by mEducation alliance founded by USAID.
SDG eChoupal, supported by Niti Aayog and other international organisations have nominated him as SDG Ambassador. He is the recipient of Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam award 2018 for excellence in public service and Dr Kalam Memorial Ignited Minds award. His name figures in the “Be the Inspiration” Book released by Rotary Club, Mumbai where 45 inspiring Indians were listed. He was felicitated as “Covid warrior” by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra for spearheading covid relief activities. He is visiting faculty of International Institute for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Goa . Gave presentation to Hon’ble President of India on the CSR activities of SBI & SBI Foundation.
He has been Jury member of various awards/challenges related to CSR/Sustainability/Social Enterprises. He is member of the Governing Council of Yes Bank Foundation advising on CSR projects and strategies. Member of Internal Quality Advisory Committee of Amity University, Mumbai. Advisor on CSR & SDGs to varioius NGOs and Foundations.
He was President of the Sakura Toastmasters Club, Tokyo and also started the Tokyo debating society.
His interest in long distance running has led to his completion of 63 full marathons (42.195km), That he was never an athlete, yet started full marathon running at the age of 45 years, went ahead completing full marathons and still running, has been inspiring thousands of people especially youth making him popular as “marathon legend of SBI”. He had participated in all the SBI Green marathons to spread the message of sustainability & be a change. Acknowledged as Fit India Ambassador by the Govt of India’s Fit India movement.
