Paul Şerban Agachi (Romanian) is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Chemical, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Botswana International University of Science and Technology, since 2015. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University Babes-Bolyai (UBB), Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He is member of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences. As a professor in Chemical Engineering he is an active member of European Federation of Chemical Engineers and of the International Federation of Automatic Control. 

Teaching activity: Process Engineering, Process Control, Process Modeling Simulation and Optimization, Theory of Systems, Process Management. Scientific activity can be summarized in over 360 scientific articles, 9 patents and 15 books (some present in over 2500 libraries around the world), over 2300 Google citations, H Index 22. Ongoing projects: tar, petrol from coal and coal dust; soap from tallow and liquid soap; coal to syngas and chemicals; fertilizers from coal; chlorine and sodium hydroxide from brine; coal to metallurgical coke.

He has been involved in academic management at UBB since 1996, and occupied various positions such as Chancellor, Vice-Rector with research, university development and President of the university until 2012.  At national and international level, he was member of the Romanian National Research Council for University Research, the Council of Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, International Ranking Expert Group Executive Committee, Computer Aided Chemical Engineering Working Group of European Federation of Chemical Engineering. He worked as professor and researcher in the USA (California Institute of Technology), Hungary (Eotvos Lorand University and Pannon University), Peru (Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, Universidad Mayor de San Marcos), Kazakhstan (Kazakh British Technical University) and has been HE expert in the UN Program ”Oil for Food” in Iraq.
