Dr. Syed Mujahid Hussain holds a Ph.D. degree in Financial Economics from Hanken School of Economics in Finland. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor of Finance and Head of the Economics and Finance department in the College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Muscat, Oman. Dr. Hussain also serves as the acting director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit at CEPS and has successfully led the College’s accreditation committee for the EQUIS reaccreditation in 2021.

Prior to joining SQU, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland. In addition to academia, he has also been a visiting researcher in the department of monetary policy and research at the Bank of Finland in Helsinki, Finland.

Dr. Hussain is an active researcher in the field of Financial Economics and has widely presented his work at international conferences. He has published his work in many high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, European Journal of Finance, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Review of Managerial Science, Empirical Economics, and International Review of Finance. He also regularly serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Banking and Finance, European Journal of Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, and International Review of Economics and Finance, among others.
