
Dr. Afshan Younas is an Assistant Professor at the Arab Open University, Oman, with over 20 years of expertise in accounting, finance, corporate governance, and CSR. She holds a Ph.D., MBA (Distinction), and MSc, and is recognized by professional accounting and business education bodies in the UK. She coordinates accounting courses, engages in academic outreach, and has edited a book on digital sustainability. As a 2024 judge for the QS Reimagine Education Awards, she reviewed global educational innovations. Her research includes CSR, corporate governance, and economic development, with several funded projects, participations in international conferences, and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Afshan Younas is a distinguished Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Business Studies at the Arab Open University (AOU), Oman. With over two decades of academic experience, she brings deep expertise in Accounting, Finance, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance, an MBA with distinction, and an MSc in Economics.
Dr. Afshan Younas is an Academic Fellow of the Association of International Accountants and a certified Management and Business Educator, accredited by the Chartered Association of Business Schools in the UK.
At AOU, she serves as the General Course Coordinator for accounting courses, where she plays a key role in curriculum development and setting assessments. She is actively engaged in academic outreach, regularly delivering invited lectures and contributing as a speaker, reviewer, and organizer at national and international conferences. She also serves as an editor for various academic journals and has recently collaborated with IGI Global Scientific Publishing as the editor of a book titled Transforming Business Through Digital Sustainability Models. Additionally, she served as a judge for the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2024, where she evaluated and reviewed numerous innovative educational projects from around the world.
Dr. Afshan Younas’s research interests lie in the areas of CSR, corporate governance, and accounting and audit practices. She has led several funded research projects, including the development of a CSR Index in Oman and an analysis of industrialization and the service sector's contribution to sustainable economic growth in the country. Her work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals. Currently, she is involved in two ongoing research projects focusing on corporate governance and factors influencing GDP growth. Her scholarly contributions address critical issues such as CSR evaluation, governance frameworks, and internal control systems in auditing.
