Alaa Hamid Mohammed was born in Al-Anbar, Iraq. He received a B.Eng. degree in computer technology engineering from Al-Maarif University College, Iraq, and an M.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Altinbas, Turkey. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree with the Department of Computer Engineering at Karabuk University, Turkey.
He is a member of the Innovative Networked Systems (INETs) Research Group at Karabuk University and recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from Altinbas University. He has over 35 publications in journals and conference proceedings in the areas of communications and networks and was ranked among the world’s top scientists for the year 2022 according to the AD Scientific Index. He also serves as a reviewer for several high-impact journals.
At University of Al Maarif, Dr. Mohammed serves as Head of the Rankings Unit, where he leads initiatives to improve the institution’s international standing, accreditation, and research visibility. He has supervised university-wide projects related to global rankings (QS, THE, Scimago), academic reputation, digital transformation, and sustainability in higher education. His leadership has contributed to advancing the university’s presence in national and international evaluation frameworks.
His research interests include wireless and mobile communications, edge intelligence, 5G/6G mobile networks, edge computing, edge caching, and fiber optics.
