
Dr. Alvin Jason A. Virata holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) from Philippine Christian University (PCU), Cavite. He completed his Master’s in information technology (MIT) at Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), Manila, where his special project was funded by the Fund Assistance for Private Education (FAPE). He was also a grantee of the CHED K-12 Scholarship Program, which enabled him to earn his Doctorate in Information Technology (DIT) at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP), Manila. Additionally, he completed a Teaching Certificate Program and completed dissertation for a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management at Philippine Normal University (PNU), Manila.
Dr. Virata, formerly served as the Director for Administrative Support and Services and Director for Information and Communication Technology from 2014 to 2019, where he managed the development of the school's IT infrastructure and system applications. He then transitioned to his current role as Director for Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness, while also serving as the Data Protection Officer at St. Dominic Medical Center (SDMC). Concurrently, he is one of the professors in the Graduate School Program at SDCA and currently hold the position as the Dean of School of Communication, Multimedia and Computer Studies (SCMCS).
Dr. Alvin Jason A. Virata has published international research papers in IEEE and other Scopus-indexed journals. He has presented his work in various countries, including the USA, the UK (London), Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, on topics such as face recognition, mobile applications, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), data mining, information theory, and IT project management.
With his active participation in research, he currently serves as a member of international technical committees and a regional chair for several international conferences, where he conducts peer reviews for research presentations and publications, as well as assists in promoting the conferences.
