Heba Shaban is a Professor of Wireless Communications with the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech (USA) and holds both B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees with honors from AASTMT.


With over a decade of academic and research experience, Prof. Shaban specializes in wireless body-area networks, activity recognition, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communications, wearable sensor technologies, and Telehealth applications. She is the co-founder and director of the Wireless Communications & Networks Research Group (WiNCG) at AASTMT, where she mentors students and spearheads innovative research initiatives.

As a senior member of IEEE, Prof. Shaban actively engages with several IEEE societies, including Communications, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, and Education. She serves as the Faculty Advisor for the first IEEE-HKN (Eta Kappa Nu) Mu Beta Chapter in Egypt and Africa and has been recognized as an IEEE STEM Champion for her leadership in STEM outreach, particularly through the award-winning “Mu Beta Kidzineers” program.


Additionally, Shaban holds editorial board positions, contributes to IEEE's pre-university education strategy, and serves as the Educational Activities Officer for the IEEE Egypt Section for the year 2025.
