A leader in educational innovation, he pioneered the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) in International Business education. Recognized for his excellence in teaching, he has received multiple prestigious awards, including the 2024 Inspiring Professor Award for the Business School in Mexico City Region and the Distinguished Professor Award in both 2023 and 2024.


Horacio Carreón-Flores is an award-winning associate professor specializing in International Business, Oversize Cargo Logistics, and Multicultural Negotiations at Tecnológico de Monterrey. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, he integrates cutting-edge technology and real-world insights into his teaching.

 

Before joining academia, he worked as a Logistics and Compliance Manager at Diseño de Máquinas Industriales, overseeing international supply chain operations and regulatory compliance. Professor Carreón-Flores served as project manager in the same company working in different parts of the world: Italy, Turkey, United States, Canada and Chile. He also worked for Facebook as a talent recruiter, hiring professionals for the company’s Malaysia and India offices, gaining first-hand experience in global talent acquisition and cross-cultural workforce integration.

 

Professor Carreón Flores holds an MBA from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s in International Business from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. His expertise in internationalization strategies has led to collaborations with top institutions such as the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.

A leader in educational innovation, he pioneered the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) in International Business education. His project, AI Meets IB: Transforming Negotiation & Strategy with AI and VR, introduces students to AI-driven negotiation simulations, where they refine their persuasion and cross-cultural communication skills in immersive virtual environments.

 

Recognized for his excellence in teaching, he has received multiple prestigious awards, including the 2024 Inspiring Professor Award for the Mexico City Region and the Distinguished Professor Award in both 2023 and 2024. He has also established strategic partnerships with global enterprises such as BIMBO, DHL, CEMEX, and KidZania, providing students with real-world business learning experiences.

 

His research focuses on experiential learning and technology-enhanced education, as reflected in his peer-reviewed publication Teaching International Business Using Virtual Reality in the Journal of Teaching in International Business, but also, on how the role of disruptive technologies affect the internationalization processess of emerging market multinational firms.
