Dr. Portuguez holds a Ph.D. in Educational Innovation from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. She also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the same institution. In addition, she holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance from ULACIT in Costa Rica, a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching from UNED in Costa Rica, and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Costa Rica.

In terms of professional experience, she has worked as an educational researcher in the fields of technology use and development in education, as well as entrepreneurship education, at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has over 20 years of experience as a business administrator and consultant. Moreover, she is the founder and director of a company dedicated to e-learning training and has held managerial positions in companies such as Walmart and Payless Shoe Source in Costa Rica. She also has teaching experience at universities in Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica.

She is currently a faculty member in the Graduate Business Department at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
