
Maya Georgieva is a futurist, immersive storyteller, and global thought leader shaping the future of learning, creativity, and innovation. She is the founding and Senior Director of the Innovation Center and the XR, AI, and Quantum Labs at The New School, where she leads pioneering initiatives at the intersection of emerging technology, design, and education.
Maya leads the largest Immersive Storytelling course in the U.S., guiding over 100 students each semester in creating speculative and impactful immersive worlds through VR, AR, and generative AI. Her work pushes the boundaries of narrative and design, blending speculative futures, spatial computing, and storytelling to provoke thought and inspire change. She regularly collaborates with artists, designers, and technologists to explore multisensory and experiential storytelling.
Through collaborations with artists, designers, technologists, and global institutions, Maya champions accessible, ethical, and inclusive innovation. Her immersive design work has been featured at major festivals and conferences, including SXSW, UNESCO, iLRN, and MIT.
