Dr. Mel Greg O. Concepcion is currently one of the magisterial lecturers of Linking Standards with Quality Practices (LiSQuP) Project of the Philippine Normal University in cooperation with the National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) and the Department of Education (DepEd). As an Associate Professor, he handles courses in Management and Leadership, Science Education, Philosophy of Education, Research, and Pedagogy and Andragogy at the PNU College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Research Development (CGSTER). He serves as panel consultant, thesis and dissertation adviser, and science content specialist. At PNU, Dr. Concepcion also served as the Technical Assistant to the Vice President for Research, Planning, and Quality Assurance & Person-in-charge of the Center for Planning & Quality Assurance (CPQA) and Accreditation (AACCUP). Dr. MG is an esteemed accreditor of the ALCUCOA for Local Government Colleges and Universities.

He joined the Department of Budget and Management from 2018 to 2021 as Project Development Officer IV and as Executive Assistant to the Undersecretary and Chief Information and Communication Officer.

Dr. Mel was an elementary science teacher and a junior high school faculty member at Xavier School until 2018. As a senior faculty member, he was given different administrative functions during his stay with Xavier School for 36 years. Aside from being a Grade School and Middle School science teacher, Dr. Mel was also tasked as Grade School Science Department Coordinator, Student Activities and Program Coordinator, and Prefect of Student Discipline and Welfare. A recipient of an Outstanding Teacher in Science and Technology Award from the Association of Science and Technology in Washington, DC, USA for his contributions to science and technology research and science education. He presented researches that focus on Understanding by Design, Brain-Based Learning, Design Thinking, Outcomes-Based Education, and other innovative teaching and learning strategies.  He wrote local books in science and provided professional development and training summits to teachers and school supervisors on classroom management, school discipline, and assessments. He was also involved in the K-12 Curriculum Reform Program of DepEd in 2016 and the pilot testing and validation of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). During the Dep Ed 2023 Launch of MATATAG Curriculum, Dr. MG provides in-service trainings and orientation summits to private schools in the different regions of the country. Recently, Dr. MG launched Vibal’s Science for Futures Thinking book series for Grades 7-10, of which he is one of the authors.

Dr. Concepcion is active in several professional organizations in the Philippines such as The Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST), The Biology Teachers’ Association of the Philippines (BIOTA), The Asian Association of Biology Educators (AABE), The Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association (PEMEA), Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ),  and The Philippine Society of Education and Philosophy (PhilSEP) to name a few.  Dr. MG served as a Judge for the 2024 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Reimagine Education Awards held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London, UK. This prestigious competition recognizes projects that are revolutionizing education and shaping employability for future generations.

 A graduate of Doctor of Education (Educational Administration specialization) and MA in Science Education and MA Special Education (Teaching the Gifted Learners) at the PNU. He finished his BS Biological Science (minor in Physical Sciences) at the University of the East.  He attended online Certifications and Trainings at University of Tsukuba, Japan, SEAMEO, and Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
