Professor Shara Lee is an award-winning academic and innovator in health professions education, currently serving as Associate Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She specializes in advancing compassionate, systems-based approaches to clinical training. Her leadership of the HEROCARE initiative, which earned a Silver Award at the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2024 in the ‘Nurturing Values and Ethics’ category, exemplifies her commitment to shaping ethically grounded, patient-centred care practices in radiation therapy education.

With a strong background in radiation therapy and medical imaging, Professor Shara Lee leads undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research spans Multiomics, Photobiomodulation Therapy, and educational innovation in paediatric radiotherapy.

Professor Lee founded HEROCARE, a transformative initiative that leverages the Hybrid Immersive Virtual Environment (HiVE) platform to prepare young patients for imaging and radiotherapy. Beyond patient support, HEROCARE serves as a clinical learning lab where students engage directly with real-world care delivery. Through the integration of the Compassionate Systems Framework, students develop emotional intelligence, systems thinking, and leadership skills in practice—not just in theory. Her work reflects a deep commitment to aligning clinical excellence with empathy and ethics in healthcare education.
