Dr. Suparna Majumdar Kar is a sociologist currently serving as the Head of the Department of Sociology. She was one of the founding members of the Teaching Learning Enhancement Cell (TLEC) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. With more than two decades of experience in higher education, she is committed to enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment practices in institutions of higher education. Her areas of academic interest include Migration and Diaspora Studies, Indian society, and the sociology of kinship. In her research, she has explored topics such as migration and social exclusion and the rise of Bengaluru as India’s Silicon Valley, in addition to her work on teaching and learning practices in higher education.
