
Amir Ismail is Director and Coordinator of the Petroleum and Mineral
Sciences Program at Capital University (formerly Helwan University) (Sep
2024–Present), where he leads academic and research initiatives. He holds a
B.Sc. in Geophysics and Seismology (2007), an M.Sc. (2014), and a Ph.D. (2020)
from Helwan University, Egypt. His postgraduate research focused on advanced
geophysical techniques, including seismic data processing, stratigraphy,
attributes, rock physics, seismic inversion, and machine learning applications.
His international research experience includes a two-year joint Ph.D.
supervision (2018–2020) at Università di Napoli Federico II, Department of
Physics "Ettore Pancini," Italy. He subsequently held a research
fellowship (2021–2022), contributing to a seismic imaging project of the
Solfatara crater (Campi Flegrei caldera, Italy) to map shallow fluid migration
pathways. As a Fulbright Scholar (2023–2024), he conducted research at the
Geophysics Lab, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. His scholarly
excellence is recognized by Helwan University's Research Excellence Award for
Ph.D. students (2020–2021) and Best Scholar Prize (2022–2023). He also mentors
future geoscientists as faculty advisor for the Helwan University SEG Evolve
team 2024, Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) teams, achieving 2nd place in the Africa
Region (2017, 2024).
