Biography of Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Anuar bin Mohd Yusof
Innovator in Educational Entertainment Technology and Creative Multimedia
Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Anuar bin Mohd Yusof is a prominent academic, professional technologist, and innovator at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). He possesses a solid academic background, holding a PhD in Edutainment Technology from the University of Malaya, a Master of Multimedia in E-Learning Technologies from Multimedia University, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information System Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM); he has committed his career to revolutionising the educational sector through innovative technology. His primary speciality encompasses Computer Animation and Digital Arts, Edutainment Technology, e-Learning, Project-Based Learning, AI-Enhanced Instruction, and Special Education.
Chairing the RG for EDUTAINMENT TECHNOLOGY (RGEtT) Dr. Anuar's research is centred on his position as the Head of the Research Group in the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (FTKW) at UMK. Under his creative direction, the research group spearheads the incorporation of interactive mobile applications, gamification, and augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) into contemporary courseware. RGEtT emphasises impactful and inclusive educational solutions. Under the guidance of Dr. Anuar, the organization has conducted extensively cited research and commercialised initiatives, including:
Creating AI educational agents and simulation models for online education.
Developing mobile edutainment applications specifically for learners with special needs, encompassing resources for pupils with ADHD and applications for Malaysian Sign Language for the deaf and mute. Developing digital game-based learning frameworks for the propagation of da'wah and the preservation of cultural heritage via interactive multimedia. Innovations of Distinction and Scholarly Achievement Dr. Anuar's dedication to academic innovation is epitomised by his pioneering "MOOC in MOOC Technique." His innovative method of digital curriculum design garnered the esteemed Special Award from the Ministry of Education at the Anugerah Khas YB Menteri Pendidikan (AKRI) in 2018.
His excellence has received global recognition. In 2021, he received the accolade of "Best Senior Lecturer of the Year (ICT in Education)" at the PERFICIO Awards in New Delhi, India. His comprehensive portfolio of acclaimed creative goods encompasses the "ARmaya" smartphone application, VR Room, and the groundbreaking "Blok Batik Pointilisme". Moreover, his influential research works, particularly on mobile edutainment for learners with special needs, have received substantial global citations, solidifying his expertise in inclusive educational technology.
Strategic Leadership and Collaborative Industry Engagement In addition to leading his research group, Dr. Anuar holds the designation of Professional Technologist (P.Tech/Ts.) conferred by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). He has significantly influenced the strategic trajectory of UMK, having held the position of Academic Director at the Centre of Academic Management, where he led the university's academic policies, micro-credential plans, and e-learning programs.
Dr. Anuar persistently pursues cooperation possibilities with corporate partners, government organisations, and fellow scholars through RGEtT. His objective is to expand the limits of creative technology, guaranteeing that contemporary education is both exceptionally entertaining and technologically sophisticated, as well as deeply inclusive.
