
Bruce Baikie is an information and communications technology (ICT) specialist with extensive experience designing and implementing technology solutions in resource-constrained and developing regions. His work focuses on renewable energy systems, sustainable computing, offline AI, and local capacity development. He brings more than three decades of experience spanning the energy and telecommunications sectors, including 17 years at Sun Microsystems, where he served as a telecommunications industry expert.
Mr. Baikie has led the design and deployment of numerous solar-powered ICT for Development (ICT4D) initiatives that expand access to information, education, and connectivity in underserved communities. He previously served as Executive Director of Inveneo, a San Francisco-based social enterprise dedicated to extending the benefits of information technology to marginalized populations through sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy solutions, and partnerships with local technology entrepreneurs.
His scholarship and professional contributions include numerous white papers and articles on sustainable computing, green data center operations, renewable energy applications, and ICT4D.
At Arizona State University, Mr. Baikie serves as Adjunct Faculty in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society, where he contributes to offline "AI for Good" research, teaching, and global development initiatives. He also mentors student teams and capstone projects within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, supporting the next generation of engineers and innovators working at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and social impact. He is also the Co-Director & Co-Founder of the ASU SolarSPELL Initiative, an offline solar-powered digital library initiative.
