
Prof. Catherine Cheung is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean at
the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University (PolyU). Prof. Cheung oversees student development and institutional advancement within the school. She received her PhD in Research from the
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2006. She is a specialist in the study of
Hotel and Tourism Management. She is committed to integrating
sustainability into hospitality and tourism education and is the founder of the
Communities of Practice of Education for Sustainable Development within the
PolyU. Her research in hospitality branding examines hotels and tourism
businesses can create strong brands that resonate employees. She also studied
emotional intelligence and cultural intelligence of hotel employees and
students. Finally, Prof Cheung has contributed to the teaching and research of
Hospitality Strategies, Revenue Management and Luxury Management for 20+ years
in Hong Kong.
She has authored and co-authored over 100
research papers and supervised more than 20 Doctoral students to completion.
She has received two times Hong Kong Government RGC Grant Research Fund, along
with other internal research and teaching grants from the Hong Kong Polytechnic
university. She has served as a member of the Hong Kong Employee Training
Board; as a judge for the Outstanding Quality Tourism Scheme service awards; as
a judge for QS Reimagine Education Awards. She has served as invited speakers
in academic conferences and industry conferences. Additionally, she has been
involved in consultancy projects for hotels, airlines, private clubs and
hospitals in Asia, focusing on service quality and human resources management.
