Dr Chandan Kumar Panda is an Assistant Professor-cum-Junior Scientist in the Department of Extension Education at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. He is passionate in teaching and always prioritizes the needs of the students and creates a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment. Dr Panda encourages active participation and engagement of students of Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate(PG) & PhD in the teaching learning process and creates milieu for expressing their opinions, and collaborate with their peers. He authored three practical manuals, acted as Content Creator ICAR E-Learning NAHEP, published eight books & thirty book chapters and also created a number of teaching materials for the students. Two PhD students and eight M Sc students successfully completed dissertation and awarded degree. He was also Coordinator of General Agriculture Test (ICAR & other institutions) for the students of Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour. Dr. Panda also led a team of scientists of the university for high level training in Artificial Intelligence(AI) at Inria centre at the University of Lille,France.

Since the joining of Dr. Panda at BAU, he immensely contributed in shaping and promulgating the teaching, research, extension and training of the university. He made significant scientific contributions in extension education especially in the areas of Assessment of Student Retention, ICT in Agricultural Extension, farmers’ information need and networks, developing indicators and women in agriculture.  Dr. Panda bagged ICAR Extramural Project twice for the university as Principal Investigator and findings of his work added piece of knowledge for Identification and Validation of Indicators for Monitoring and Evaluation of Agricultural Education System of India & also Assessment of Student Retention Admitted through AIEEA During XII Plan. Dr Panda is well known for his contribution for revival of grass pea cultivation in Bihar through the Biotech KISAN Hub project which is being funded by Dept. of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.

Dr. Panda is also committed for institutional building activities wherein acted as Officer Incharge External Examination and Evaluation Cell; Placement Cell and Career Counselling Centre and  Language laboratory. He is also member secretary of Social Science Research Advisory Group of the university.

Dr. Panda received ‘Best Scientist Award’ & ‘Dr. Gopalji Trivedi Best Extension Professional Award’ bestowed by Bihar Agricultural University Sabour in the year 2020 & 2021. He is also privileged to receive the ‘Best Teacher Award’ for the year 2022.
