Edmund Adam is an associate professor and Dean of the School
of Arts, Humanities and Health Science at CUQ-Ulster University in Doha, Qatar.
As a researcher, Dr. Adam is a comparative and international higher education
scholar whose work focuses on the strategic planning, development, and reform
of higher education institutions and higher education systems. His research bridges
higher education studies, organizational sociology, political economy, and international
relations. This interdisciplinary approach reflects his conviction that, in our
Global Age, understanding the profound changes affecting social life
increasingly requires an examination of the growing forms of complexity. This
in turn necessitates building robust science-for-policy ecosystems where
research cuts across and reaches beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries.
Dr. Adam is the recipient of IREG’s award for best research on international rankings in 2021. With over 15 years of teaching and research in Canada and internationally, his work appeared in leading journals of higher education, including International Educational Development and Higher Education. Dr. Adam’s research is aimed at helping higher education leaders, policymakers, and the public to make evidence-informed decisions about higher education.
