Emma Elkington
Head of School
University of Westminster

I am a Chartered Accountant, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Chartered Management and Business Educator (CMBE) with the Chartered Association of Business Schools. I started my career in audit at Ernst & Young before being seconded into the learning technology team and then the training department of the UK firm. I then transitioned into professional education, where I served as the managing director of several regional centres training students for their accounting exams and also authored content. After a brief return to industry as a consultant on the capital funding release, and having dabbled with becoming a maths teacher, I moved into Higher Education in 2009, joining the University of Hertfordshire as a senior lecturer in accounting.

I am currently the Head of School at the University of Westminster, with around 90 academic staff in the school, teaching a range of disciplines. My role is to lead the strategy of the school as we move to authentic and active learning.

My doctoral studies focussed on Managing business schools in the UK HE sector and I remain an active member of the critical management community and publish on both Accouting Education and on Public Sector Management.
