
Prof. Gagan Deep Sharma, recipient of
the Clarivate India Research Excellence–Citation Award 2025 and ranked among
the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford–Elsevier, is a distinguished
academic leader and multidisciplinary scholar with over two decades of
experience in higher education, research, and institutional development. He
serves as Director, International Affairs and Professor of Management at Guru
Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Besides, he holds several strategic
positions including Chairperson of the Global Ranking and Collaborations Cell
(GRCC), Director of the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC), President of the
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Project Director (CSR), and Incharge of
the University School of Fire and Industrial Safety.
He played a key role in helping GGSIPU achieve
landmark recognition in global higher-education assessments—ranked among top
1000 Universities of the World by QS World University Rankings 2026 as well as
Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.
A prolific researcher, Prof. Sharma has authored over
110 Scopus-indexed publications accumulating 10,000+ citations, an h-index of 52,
and an i10-index of 102. His work spans sustainability, finance, economics,
innovation, and entrepreneurship, with papers in leading journals such as British
Journal of Management, Technovation, Energy Economics, Resources
Policy, and Journal of Business Research. He serves as Associate
Editor and Section Editor for leading international journals published by
Emerald, Elsevier, and Routledge.
Internationally, he is a Distinguished Fellow at
Ludovika University of Public Service (Budapest), Visiting Professor at
Széchenyi István University (Hungary), University of Łódź (Poland), and UCSI
University (Malaysia), and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lebanese American
University (Beirut). His global engagements reflect a sustained commitment to
cross-border collaboration on sustainability, green finance, and
higher-education innovation.
Complementing his academic pursuits, Prof. Sharma is
also an acclaimed Punjabi poet, recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar
(2014)—India’s highest national literary honor for young writers. He has
published two books of poetry in Punjabi – Kavita di Ibaarat (2008) and Ikalla
Nahin Hunda Banda (2013), and one book of poetry in Hindi – Rangon ki Zubaan
(2024).
