Massey University

As the Provost at Massey University Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa, New Zealand, I provide strategic leadership across teaching and learning, academic development and innovation, research and research commercialization. With ten years’ experience in this role, I have contributed to the university's growth and development as a research-intensive institution in the top 3% globally. I serve as a board member for Massey Ventures Limited, a subsidiary of the University, where I leverage my expertise in higher education to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. An internationally recognised historian, I have published widely on aspects of settler colonial and Indigenous histories. I have held senior roles in Australian and New Zealand universities and have been a Fulbright scholar. With a commitment to advancing equity and access in higher education, I am a strong advocate for the vital role played by modern universities in creating social, cultural and intellectual capital for public benefit and economic wellbeing. I am passionate about advancing the academic excellence and global reputation of Massey University and was proud to represent Massey as co-host of the ICDE World Conference held in Wellington in 2025.
